SharePoint Governance and Burton Group Workshop
Those of you who were at the SharePoint Conference and went to my "sold out" SharePoint Governance talk might have noticed a Burton reference in my deck.  Truth is a few months ago I sat down with some key Analysts such as Craig Roth from the Burton Group.  I was sharing my thoughts on the importance of Governance in a session on Information Management and Identity Management and found what I was saying really resonated with them and visa versa.  They really had an amazing handle on the importance of governance.

As we talked we found that we both had evolved strategies and a great mutual understanding.  They shared a deck from their workshop on planning and governance.  I was extremely impressed and asked if I could use some of the content.  Unfortunately in the development of the deck, some of the attribution was dropped as the slides became more polished.  I apologize for this and want to make sure they get credit where credit is due.  Some of the concepts are key to the new deck such as the definition including inspiration on a few of the slides reflecting the break down for creating a plan and goals.

I'm updating the deck for slide 4 and 24 and encourage those of you who are planning governance to seriously consider Burton Group and their workshop.   Note, I've updated the deck with the same URL, so if you saw this in Istanbul, Dubai or in Seattle... this is the deck you should refer to which has the appropriate attribution.
